I choose the Jaunt rune to increase its defensive part - being immune to practically everything for longer. The rune for Spirit Walk, I find, is up for debate. Using the LoN ring set, they will even deal some damage.įor any Witch Doctor player, these spells hardly need explaination. Many builds use the zombie dogs for the exact same reason - Meat shield and Life on Hit from the Leeching Beasts rune. Like any pet, it also serves the defensive role of a meat shield, only increased with the Short Man's Finger ring.
Much better known for it appearance in most Helltooth builds, I found it to be a good addition to my damage arsenal. The 15% damage increase is also hard to ignore. Gargantuan - Humongoid also benefits with it's cleave attacks. As mentioned before, the use of Locust Swarm - Diseased Swarm has it's obvious advantage here. The pull of the spell is easily used to get monsters away from me, while also increasing my damage in more than one way. The spell serves a both offensive and defensive role. Even many Rift Guardians will summon adds which can trigger the rune for considerable damage if stacked properly. When playing in a group with someone good at stacking monsters, this is the prefered rune. This rune is more complicated to use, but can be very rewarding when paired with a well placed Piranhado. I've chosen the Searing Swarm rune for it's superior damage to individual targets. Every build I find however is strictly designed for speedruns in lower content. I wanted a build centered around my favorite ability: Locust Swarm. Resource Cost Reductions is almost irrelevant, as my own spell costing mana is Piranhas.

IAS has no effect on Locust Swarm - therefore CDR goes ahead of it to increase uptime on Piranhas and Soul Harvest. Locust Swarm gains the effect of the Pestilence rune and deals 45 - 60% increased damage.
